Email:  gbh@homseylawcenter.com

Gary Homsey worked at the Oklahoma County Courthouse while in law school and then interned with one of the preeminent trial firms in Oklahoma. These experiences fueled his interest in trial work and particularly representing and protecting the rights of the individual.

A native of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, his father and uncles were founders of one of the most successful businesses in Oklahoma City and instilled in him a strong work ethic and the desire to excel at whatever he does.

Gary has been instrumental in helping draft the punitive damages statute and the frivolous lawsuit statute that was signed into law by the current governor. Throughout a successful legal career since 1974, Gary B. Homsey continues to strive relentlessly to fairly represent injured people.

Gary has long served many legal and civic organizations and committees. Gary is Past President of the Oklahoma Trial Lawyers Association, on the Board of Directors of the Oklahoma County Bar Association, and ranked as one of the most successful trial lawyers in the state of Oklahoma.
.
Gary met and married his wife, Sue, who was raised in the Texas panhandle, and they have three children. The oldest daughter is pursuing a career in law, their son is a real estate developer, and their youngest daughter is working on a medical career. Gary is a native of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and is very involved with his family and many close friends.

Getting to know Gary Homsey...

What do you like about the law:

Representing a client in a just cause fuels my competitive juices to aggressively, ethically, and competently "knock the socks" off of my opponent. Representing people against large companies or big business for a worthy cause is one of the greatest blessings a trial lawyer can have. After each victory where we have changed our clients' lives forever, my commitment and love of representing injured people is always reinforced.

On choosing a lawyer:

Find out who gets the best results, who has a great reputation, and who has had success in and out of the courtroom. Their reputation for ethics, integrity, and confidence should be considered when choosing a lawyer.

Are you generally looking to settle a case or do you like going to court?

Our firm is willing to do whatever it takes to achieve a fair result for our client. The defense firms know that our firm will fight for what is reasonable and that we are more than willing to take cases to trial. We know how to win and we know that our knowledge and power give us an advantage over our adversaries.

Most disappointing yet rewarding case:

We were hired by a wonderful family whose wife and mother was permanently injured as a result of the atrocious conduct of an Oklahoma City police officer. When you sue the city, there is a limit on the recovery amount allowed under the law. The case ran up high expenses working with all of the insurance carriers and testimony fees to doctors and hospitals and the fees for our considerable time and effort. Our firm decided to waive all legal fees and expenses. We gave all of the recovery money to our clients because we wanted them have something before the Christmas holidays. Actually, this probably is the most rewarding case our firm has ever had because of the warm feeling we had in helping a client who was in dire need.

How would you characterize Homsey Law Center?

We are a powerful law firm of bright, aggressive, and tireless trial lawyers who like trying cases, obtaining settlements, and getting results for our clients. We are not too big so each client knows who is handling their case and the client can always be confident that they will be thoroughly prepared, informed and well represented. We believe what we do is the last form of protection between individuals and big business and the insurance industry.

What makes your job rewarding?

When I have clients with injuries so severe as to affect their livelihood and everything they have worked for in life is in jeopardy of being lost, I take great pride in the ability to see that their lives are put back in some form of normalcy with a positive future.

What is the most important thing to consider when you're looking for an attorney?

Reputation. A lawyer who has earned respect from colleagues, adversaries, and clients through his or her practice will certainly have the skills and desire to litigate on behalf of a client.

Why would you recommend Homsey Law Center?

Experience of the lawyers and staff in meeting any and all needs of the clients, as well as the caring and personal nature each and every case is given.

On settling versus going to court:

Settlements are only advisable when the client's interests are considered against the expense and risk of trial. Obviously, many cases must be tried for justice to prevail.

What do you like about law?

I love the competitive aspect of litigation. Taking a fact situation and molding it to fit the law and convincing a jury that the defendant was responsible for my client's injuries and convincing the jury to compensate my client is very rewarding.

What area of law is your favorite?

All areas of personal injury. I especially enjoy litigating automobile accidents, tractor/trailer accidents and products liability cases.

What's been your most rewarding case?

Gary Homsey and I represented a man injured in a in a wreck with a tractor/trailer rig. The trucking company denied any responsibility. It was rewarding because although our client was severely injured and the trucking company did not want to compensate him for those injuries, we convinced the jury and they awarded our client $5 million for his injuries.

Why would you recommend this firm to anyone?

I would recommend our firm because of our skills and our professionalism. We are skilled in the law and aggressively litigate our cases for our clients. We are also professional in dealing with our clients and other lawyers.

In most cases, are you hoping for settlements, or do you like going to court?

I never hope for a settlement. The only way my client's case will settle is if I work hard on it and let the insurance company know I mean business and will fight to obtain fair compensation for my client.

How would you describe Homsey Law Center?

Aggressive, professional and honest.
